How to Contact Us for Help

Members can contact us using the following methods.

During the day Sea Start personnel man the telephones. At night the telephones are switched through to trained operators who deal with the call. A comprehensive log of all calls is maintained. If a call is received by the night service all relevant details are taken and passed on to a duty Marine Engineer who will return your call.

You will find it helpful to have the following information to hand:

Boat name / Membership number
Contact telephone number
Position
Making way or drifting?
Are you standing into danger? (if so do not delay - call the Coastguard direct on VHF Channel 16)
Can you anchor?
Where are you heading for?
Nature of defect
You will be asked to maintain watch on VHF Channel 16, even if you contacted Sea Start by telephone. The reason for VHF Channel 16 is so that our staff can contact you via the Coastguard should your mobile telephone battery go flat!
